This week we are going to revise the homophones that we’ve learnt already. Children have been having some difficulty choosing the right one, depending on the sentence.
To improve, children must practise using the correct word in a sentence, with an adult to check that it’s the correct choice. It’s not enough to be able to just spell all of the words correctly.
Children could write for example:
- I went to their house for tea. It’s over there. They’re coming here next week.
- I think you’re doing really well in literacy and so I’m going to increase your pocket money.
- Last night, there was a knight in shining armour outside my castle.
Friday’s test will check children’s knowledge of using any of the homophones from the last two weeks.
