World Book Day – Well done Year 1

Thursday 05 March 2026

Another wonderful day with our Year 1s at Moortown. Today is World Book Day which means we’ve had a day of reading, sharing and creating stories. The Year 1s came in with some amazing costumes: we had princesses, super heroes, ballerinas and we even found Wally!

We started off our day with a really fun and educational workshop from The British Library. The Year 1s learnt all about story telling and how to create them. They looked at retelling The Three Little Pigs by adding their own adjectives and by using prosody. They did so well with this and got to act as the three little pigs and even made Mr Volpe the Big Bad Wolf (which was popular).

Have a look for yourself at some of our great costumes:

Well done Year 1 and happy World Book Day!
