On Fridays, Year 5 study Latin. The children have worked really hard on translating Latin sentences into English. We are able to recognise word endings of verbs and what that means. We can look for the subject and object of a sentence even though the words in Latin are not in the correct order.
I’ve been very impressed with the children’s knowledge and ability. It has also really helped us to work out the meanings of English words that have Latin roots as well as translate Latin words into English.
