Transition afternoon

Monday 08 July 2019

It’s been great to meet the current Year 1 class this afternoon as part of our transition afternoon.

Mrs Taylor and Mrs Freeman will be teaching the class with Mrs Bharath and Mrs Maqbool assisting the class too.

We started by talking about how the children are feeling about the move to Year 2. One of the ways to cope with a change is to find out lots of information. Our same and different activity allowed the children to think about what will change (and not change) in Year 2. We came up with some other ideas that weren’t in the venn diagram such as school rules, rewards, lining up and groups.

The children were excited to hear that we are going to adopt an animal, in Year 2, to support our school charity, WWF.

To make it fair, we had a class vote to choose the animal we wanted to adopt. As you can see, the polar bear was the most popular choice.  We’ll find out more about our animal when we return from September.

We look forward to meeting you all after the summer break.
