The help we receive from parents is invaluable and is much appreciated by staff; it also shows the value parents place in children’s learning and children benefit from this. Parents interested in helping in school, and who have the necessary free time, should speak to any member of the teaching staff.
Parents can help in many different ways, including:
- Sharing skills and interests eg talking about their job, helping with computer activities
- Listening to children read
- Accompanying children on educational visits
- Making costumes for productions
- Joining our PTA
Moortown Primary is committed to the safeguarding of pupils and everyone who works here. We expect volunteers to share this commitment and follow policies and procedures in relation to this. Regular helpers in school are all checked in line with government guidelines for Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. Helpers also need to complete our volunteer application form and a volunteer agreement, both of which can be found in our Volunteer Policy and Good Practice Guide.
Local businesses have built up links with our school and we value their help. Learners from local high schools gain work experience by helping in school. Our children benefit from seeing positive role models make such worthwhile contributions. Some of the local companies who have worked with us recently include Moortown Coop and Leeds United Football Club.
If you’re interested in helping in school, and have the necessary free time, please contact the school office or speak to any member of the teaching staff.
