Discovery Zone at Leeds University

Monday 08 April 2019

Year 6 had a great morning at Leeds University in our final week of the Spring Term. Each and every one of them got stuck in to a whole host of scientific investigations, finding out loads along the way.

We extracted DNA from kiwi fruit.
We learnt about what affects coral reefs both positively and negatively.
Using purple cabbage, we found out the pH of a range of liquids.
Honey bees, bumble bees and wasps can be easily distinguished – if you know how.
We even held and studied real hearts – although some of us enjoyed that more than others!
