Week 14: 14.07.20: Home learning

Monday 13 July 2020

Hello Year 2 children and their families. It is my last home learning post for you all today so I wanted to say thank you to your adults for all your support as you have taken over our role for the last fourteen weeks! We have missed the class very much and we are sorry the year has come to an end before we could all be back at school together.

We hope you have a safe and relaxing summer holiday and we shall see you all when you return to school as the new Year 3 class.  We know Mr Wain will have a great year with such a fantastic class.

So, here we go with the learning for you for today.

Lesson 1 science/reading

Do you remember back in February, we started our grow your own potatoes project.

Well, they have been well cared for at home and the time has come to harvest the potatoes.

1.Read this text to see how the potatoes were harvested.

2.Watch this video to show how the potato farmer harvests their potatoes and gets them ready for the supermarket.

3.Read and complete this quiz based on the video. Here are the answers.

Lesson 2 maths

First of all, spend 10/15 minutes on Times Table Rock Stars.

Today, try a suduku challenge to test your problem solving and reasoning skills.  Start by completing the 4×4 grid. Then, try the 6×6 grid.

Lesson 3 PE

This skipping activity is led by someone the children will recognise. Unfortunately, our Year 2 Skipping School Festival couldn’t take place this term but click here to watch the video and join in if you have a skipping rope at home.

If you don’t have access to a skipping rope at home, choose five of the ThisisPE challenges.
