Maths

Our current maths learning is number and place value.
Here are the related objectives that Year 1 are working towards for the end of this year.
Our daily maths lesson always involves some form of counting. This counting Super Movers video is a favourite with the children.
A resource that we use daily to support this learning is the 100 square. It helps with counting, reading numbers to 100, identifying one more or less than a given number and spotting patterns when counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
Here’s an interactive version of a 100 square, with games, that we have been using in class help with this learning. Other online games that can help with this learning are Robot more or less and a great game for number bonds and doubles is Hit the button.

The children are encouraged to be resourceful and use different resources to help them. As well as a 100 square, this may include using a number line, Base 10, Numicon and a counting string.
