This half term we are making a cushion using our sewing skills. We have already thought about the design criteria for our cushion – what will it need to be to be successful? We have used that design criteria to create a design for our cushion and chosen our materials.
Today, we created a template for our decoration on the front of our cushion by carefully drawing and cutting it our of paper. We then used the template to draw our design on the felt. Then, we used large fabric scissors to cut the felt. We also discussed how we would fill our cushions in a sustainable way. We considered what materials would be sustainable and what materials wouldn’t. We agreed that stuffing our cushions with scraps of felt would be the most sustainable way to fill our cushions.
