Maypole season has arrived! As many of you know, it’s a long-standing tradition at Moortown Primary School for Reception children to open the Summer Fair with a maypole dance. This week, we’ve been busy practising and are looking forward to performing on Friday 10 July at 3:15pm. We can’t wait to see you there!
Outdoor snack
With the lovely warm weather, we’ve been enjoying our morning snack outside on The Green. It’s been a wonderful opportunity for the children to chat with friends, share stories and appreciate our beautiful outdoor space. Spending time together in the fresh air has made snack time even more enjoyable.
Art
This half-term, our featured artist is Alexander Calder. Calder was most well known for his sculptures and mobiles. We explored photographs of his artwork, discussing the different shapes, colours and how his creations made us feel. Inspired by Calder’s moving mobiles, we designed and made our own using paper plates, card and paper to cut out shapes.
Sports day reminder
Sports Day is next Tuesday at 1.30pm. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their PE kit. If possible, they should also wear a t-shirt in their team colour. As the weather is expected to be warm, please make sure your child brings a named sun hat and has sun cream applied before they come to school.
Meet your new teacher
Next Wednesday morning, the Reception children will spend some time getting to know their new teacher and exploring their new classroom. This is an exciting part of the transition process and helps the children feel more confident and familiar with their new learning environment.
