Living and Learning: School rules

Friday 04 September 2026

In Living and Learning this week, we’ve been recapping the school rules. The children were very clear and came up with lots of examples of how we can be respectful, ready and safe.

We also introduced a new change to our 3, 2, 1 STOP instruction. Empty hands has been replaced with positive body language and eyes on the speaker has been replaced with focus on the speaker.

We discussed possible reasons for the change and I was very impressed with the ideas the children. They showed careful thought and maturity. Then, we thought about what these new instructions would look, sound and feel like in practice.

Help at home by discussing what rules you might have at home and why they are important.
