Our whole-school homework this week is:

See this week’s Living and Learning based Talk Time below.

Reading: please make sure your child is reading on a daily basis.

Number Fact Fluency: use Numbots or Times Table Rock Stars in regular short bursts.

Talk Time:

Living and Learning is the focus of this week’s Talk time and we need your help!

Which charity should our school support?

Discuss the purpose of charities and consider what charity might be important to an individual.

With your child, have a look at the list of charities below. Ask your child to consider which charity they’d like to be our chosen school charity – make sure they can express their opinions and back these up with reasons.

Below are the chosen charities that we’ll choose from:

Alzheimer’s Research UK
This charity’s mission is support that will help us find a cure for dementia through investing in the best research and powering the most forward-thinking scientists.

Leeds Hospitals Charity
This is to make a donation specifically to the ‘Play Team’ which funds play specialists in Leeds hospitals and provides toys and games in children’s wards

Zarach
Our mission is to end child bed poverty and therefore help children get a good night’s sleep and the chance to thrive at school. Children in Sphere Federation schools have benefitted from Zarach’s work.

Book Trust
Book Trust aims to change lives by getting children and families reading. It recognises that a love of books changes lives: children are likely to do better at school, as well as be more socially, culturally and emotionally prepared for life.

Guide Dogs for the Blind Association
From helping children build confidence and independence to empowering adults with practical and emotional support, Guide Dogs aims to help people with sight loss live the life they choose.

The charities will be reviewed in class on Thursday 5 November. Each class will vote for one charity which will be brought to the Junior Leadership Team who will have the final vote.
