08 February 2013
This week’s homework is Talk Time and is due in Wednesday 13 February.
Has there been (or is there) life on other planets? Discuss.
Following the discovery of an ‘alien egg’ right next to the school, I want you to discuss at home whether there has ever been life outside of planet earth. Why not try:
- exploring accounts of alien encounters
- researching what is required for life to exist and whether that is possible on other planets
- discussing whether it is ever possible to know for sure whether something exists in such a huge universe
We’ll be having a discussion next week, so make sure your child comes ready with some key points to make.

Your homework this week is creative and is due in on Wednesday 13 February 2013.
I can produce a piece of work for our theme parks display.
Create a piece of work about theme parks to show what you have learnt in Literacy, Geography, Art, DT, Science or Maths.
Work should not go in your homework book. It should be bright, colourful, attractive, neat, of an excellent standard in terms of presentation and ready to put up on display.

The performance will be on Thursday 07 February at 2.40pm
See you there!

The homework this week is Talk Time and is due in Wednesday 06 February.
I can talk about when I think time began.
Before we started our new Big Topic (Blast Off!), the children came up with some questions that they wanted to find the answer to by the end of the topic. A large proportion of the class wanted to know the answer to the following question:
“When did time begin?”
I’m sure you’ll all agree this is a fascinating question as well as being one that I would struggle to answer! Therefore, we’ve decided that this is a great opportunity for your child to share their beliefs, ideas and/or theories on when and how time began. Make sure your child has some points ready to bring to our discussion next week.

This week in class we have been writing from specific points of view. Your homework is to write a diary of a visit to a theme park expressing your point of view of the day.
- Was your day excellent?
- Was it disappointing?
- Was it a mixture?
Remember to include events and feelings. Make your diary as entertaining as possible. Interest your reader by combining interesting events and feelings. Make your events realistic. Link your opening and closing paragraphs with your feelings about your day.
Complete your plan on the planning sheet you were given in class and write your diary in your homework book.
This practice makes perfect homework is due in on Wednesday 06 February.

I know the different parts of a sentence.
The children have a sheet stuck in their homework books. They need to read the sentences and identify the different types of words in the sentences.
They might need to spot all the nouns and verbs or some children might also have to identify the adjectives and adverbs as well. Underline/highlight each type of word with a different colour.
- Noun: a thing, object, person or place.
- Verb: an action or a ‘doing word’.
- Adjective: is a ‘describing word’. It describes the noun.
- Adverb: describes how something is done. It describes the verb.
