This week’s homework is creative. It is due in on Wednesday 16 March.

I know what instructions are.

You could find examples, produce your own instructions by writing them or using diagrams or come up with your own idea!

This week’s homework is talk time. It will be due in on Wednesday 16 March.

I think spending billions of pounds on space exploration is a waste of money. Do you agree?

Children can choose to agree or disagree with the statement – as long as they have reasons to back up their opinion.

Try to encourage the children to use words like:

  • However…
  • Although…
  • On the other hand…
  • I understand your point, but I think that…
  • Conversely…
  • Another reason is…

Your homework this week is Practise Makes Perfect.

I can solve timetable problems.

I can read scales and rulers accurately.

I can measure angles accurately.

In class we are working on time, angle, and reading scales. Pick out two of the areas of study you feel you need a little more time on and complete the appropriate Practice Makes Perfect sheet in your homework book.

Homework is due in on Wednesday 16 March.

The homework this week is ‘Talk time’ and is due in Wednesday 09 March.

I can talk about why I should feel ‘good to be me’.

In keeping with this half-term’s SEAL theme of being ‘good to be me’, your child should discuss all the ways that they should feel good about themselves.

They should also talk about why their friends should feel good about themselves.

Your homework this week is Talk Time:

I can talk about whether school uniform should be banned.

In class we are working on balanced arguments. Discuss with your parents your opinions about the statement. Think of and discuss points that you agree with and points that you disagree with.

Also think about a conclusion and the connectives that you would use in your discussion.

Make notes in your homework book to show the things you discussed.

Homework is due in on Wednesday 09 March.

The homework this week is Talk Time and is due on Wednesday 09 March.

Do animals belong in the circus?

Tips for great Talk Time homework are:

  • Turn the TV off!
  • Get a few adults together if possible to join in.
  • Ask the adults to go first.
  • Use some words you don’t think your child uses/knows and explain their meanings.
  • Put a comment in their homework book.

I look forward to hearing children’s opinions.

This week’s homework is creative. It’s due in on Wednesday 09 March.

Remember the steps:

“speech marks to open…

capital letter

spoken words

punctuation mark

…speech marks to close”

reporting clause

action/ender

full stop

eg  “I’m lost in the labyrinth!” cried Sarah, darting her eyes back and forth.

It’s half term…

It’s half-term holidays next week, so there are no homework tasks or spellings next week.

Of course, regular practice and learning can still happen: reading each day, swimming, tables practice, trips to the library, walks around Roundhay Park… All will help your child have a happy and healthy holiday!

The homework this week is practice makes perfect and is due in on Wednesday 16 February.
