The homework this week is ‘Creative’ and is due in Wednesday 16 February.
I can show why animals should or should not be in the circus.
Using the vocabulary from last week, the children should find a creative way to present their thoughts on animals in the circus.
You could:
- Make a convincing poster.
- Write a short letter to a ringmaster convincing him.
- Write a comic strip.
- Write a song.
As always with Creative homework, the emphasis is on the original. Feel free to explore unique ways to present your homework.

Your homework this week is creative and is due in on Wednesday 16 February.
I can express my opinion about Captain Robert Scott and his Antarctic expedition.
We have been learning about Robert Scott’s mission to travel to the South Pole. Can you produce a piece of work that tells me your opinion about Scott and his mission.
This piece of work could be:
- Some art work
- A biography
- A timeline
- A cartoon strip about his expedition
- An interview with you answering questions about as though you were Scott
or…
- Your own even more creative idea!

This week’s homework is talk time. It’s due in on Wednesday 16 February.
I know about stories set in imaginary worlds.
The children can think about stories in books or in films that feature imaginary worlds (eg. Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland).
What do they have in common? What are the characters like? How do they get to the other world? What is the setting like?
This will help the children when we start our story unit next week!
Friday 11 February
The homework this week is practice makes perfect and is due in on Wednesday 16 February.
I can find fractions.
Each child will be given a worksheet that they must complete. The problems on the worksheet will be similar to ones that we have done in class. Children must read the questions carefully so that they know what to do.
Good luck!
Friday 03 February
The homework this week is Talk Time and is due in Wednesday 09 February.
I can have a discussion about animals in the circus using but, so and because.
This week, the children will be talking about whether it is right to have animals in the circus. We will also be using some tricky connectives like but, so and because so they should be practising these in advance.
There are other connectives, too – ‘On the other hand’, ‘However’ etc might be useful, too.

Your homework this week is CREATIVE and is due in on Wednesday 9 February 2011.
I can invent and make a page of a study book to show people how to write a great set of instructions.
OR
I can invent a page of an important bits book to show people how to interpret pie charts.
Think of the following:
- How the page should look so it looks like a study book or important bits book.
- How you are going to make it creative and interesting to read.
- What information will you include to help your reader learn about instructions or pie charts?
- What tips will you give to your reader?
- If you’re producing information about instructions, don’t forget to mention key features: imperative verbs, connectives that help to give order, numbers, and handy hints.
- If you’re producing information about pie chats don’t forget to mention the learning steps children need to take: look at the number of sections, how many people in total, and fractions for each section.
Have fun!

Produce a spider diagram of shapes and their properties.
(2D shapes may have sides, vertices, angles and lines of symmetry.)
(3D shapes may have faces, edges and vertices.)
