Q. Where do you come from?
A. I was born in Cavan in Ireland, which is in the middle of nowhere, but I grew up on a farm in Scotland (that explains my Irish / Scottish accent). I’ve lived in lots of places!
Q. What is your favourite subject?
A. I love maths (because I like all the rules and patterns), English (because I like reading stories to a class) and art (just because!).
Q. What is your favourite food?
A. I can never make up my mind what my favourite food is. Pesto and tarragon are my favourite flavours and I also like dark chocolate and nearly all Italian food.
Q. What is your favourite animal?
A. Dogs, definitely. I’d really like to own a border collie or whippet but I don’t think they would enjoy sitting in my office all day!
Q. What is your favourite sport?
A. I’m not especially good at sport but I do go to the gym a lot – I try to go four or five times each week, perhaps even first thing in the morning before school. At school I like teaching circuits and basketball.
Q. Why did you want to become a teacher?
A. I’ve worked in business and found it a bit boring. You’re never bored in a school! My favourite part of the job is watching lessons where I see great teaching and great learning. I also really enjoy working with children on a challenging Maths problem and being impressed by the different strategies each person comes up with to solve something.
