Year 4 – Reading

Book Club is every Thursday.

Well done to everyone who brought their Reading Record today; we shared some fabulous examples in our Book Club session.  The children enjoyed reading their library books and sharing books with each other. Your child should have taken their library book home with them today to enjoy reading at home.

Help at home by continuing to listen to your child read regularly.

Well done, Year 4. Have fun reading!

Maths – column addition

This week in Maths, the children have been adding 3-digit and 4-digit numbers using the column method. We’ve talked about the importance of setting the calculation out in the correct columns. The children are remembering how to exchange into the next column.

Here are some examples below:

Help at home by practising this method.

Welcome back!

Welcome back Year 4!

We’ve had a great two days in Year 4 so far; the children have demonstrated excellent learning attitudes and have taken pride in the work that they’ve produced.

The children are excited about their new topic learning on Ancient Greece and have already asked some excellent questions.

Key information:

  • In Year 4, our PE days are Tuesdays and Fridays. Please make sure earrings are taken out before school.
  • We visit the library every Wednesday so please have your library book in school every week on this day.
  • Book Club will be every Thursday in Year 4. Children will have the opportunity to share the books they’ve been reading and celebrate the work in their Reading Records. (More information will follow next week about Reading Records and Book Club.)

What a fabulous start to the year!

Well done, Year 4.
