This week’s homework is Creative and is due on Thursday 28 June.

I understand how money is made, spent, saved and stored.

As we’ve starting our Enterprise project soon, we’re going to be discussing making money and how money is spent. For this Creative homework, the children could:

  • Present different ways people make money – employment, charities, starting businesses
  • Investigate where people keep their money
  • Think about what they’d like to save their money for – now or in the future
  • Give themselves a budget and decide how to spend it
  • Go shopping with you can then present how their/your money was spent and why

This week’s homework is Creative and is due in on Thursday 28 June:

I can show my understanding of mass, volume and capacity.

In class, we’ve been using a variety of weighing scales (grams and kilograms), using different measuring containers/cylinders (millilitres and litres) and adding, subtracting and comparing mass & volume.

To show their understanding of these topics, your child could:

  • investigate the measuring containers you have at home and produce a table of their findings
  • do some cooking, weighing ingredients, with an adult/sibling
  • make a quiz
  • go on an adventure to find all things to do with the topics (film it)
  • find containers and estimate their capacity (then check)
  • make a game like top trumps

This week, our homework is Talk Time: I know and understand the importance of telling the truth.

Telling the truth is so important in many aspects of life. Sometimes, it can mean we can solve problems better – especially in a school environment. Children should talk about the statement at home in preparation for a class discussion.

This week the homework is talk time.

I see things from other people’s point of view.

Showing empathy is a really important skill. Children should appreciate that people don’t always have the same opinions and views.

This week’s home is Practice Makes Perfect.

In class, Year 4 have been writing recounts. Today, we watched a short cartoon about the discovery of a pyramid. The children have been asked to write a diary entry as if they were the person entering the vast tomb.

There are several things to remember when writing a recount. The class will need to remember these and include them in their writing.

Remember, this is not a story!

This week’s homework is linked to the My Health My School survey the children will be completing soon.

They have a number of aspects of their daily routine to keep track of: having breakfast; snacks and drinks consumed; and exercise taken. The children are going to start their diaries on Saturday 19 June and finish them on Friday 25 June (so homework is not due in until Monday 28 June).

We’ve gone through how to complete the diary and children should ask if they’re not sure through the week.

This week’s homework is Talk Time and will be discussed on Friday 22 June.

I can talk about my learning.

Below are some images taken of the learning we have been part of this week. Look at the photos together and ask your child to tell you about their learning. There are lots of things they could tell you or that you could ask:

  • Did you enjoy that learning?
  • Do you thinking you improved on any skills in that lesson?
  • If you could do that lesson again, what would you do differently/the same?
  • What was the purpose of that learning?
  • What was your favourite learning from this week?

For Talk Time homework, the children should make a few brief notes on the the conversations they’ve had to help them in our class discussion.
