All of the spellings this week have -fer endings and we’re learning how to add a suffix to these words. There will be no test on Friday but your child needs to practise adding suffixes to these words correctly. Sometimes you need to double the ‘r’ and sometimes you don’t.
All children should be practising their spellings in their homework book, using the techniques suggested at the back which we also use in class.

This week, spelling will focus on one of our must dos: apostrophes for contractions. This is due in on Thursday 11 October.
Practise contractions by re-writing these sentences into your books, changing the underlined words for its contraction. Don’t forget to use the apostrophe in the right place. Use the list at the bottom of the page to find the spellings of the contractions you need.

This week’s activity is to find at least ten words where you must double up the consonant for a short vowel sound. Have a go at practising the words in a creative way. Once you’ve finished, write each word in your own sentence or story. Challenge yourself to include a relative clause! Be ready to discuss your findings in class on Thursday 04 October. |
