These words will be tested on Friday 08 February.

The homework this week is to practise and prepare for our class assembly:

  • the words to the songs (the children know the words already, so it’s a case of working on loud, clear singing)
  • individual parts (practise projecting your voice!)

The performance will be on Thursday 07 February at 2.40pm

See you there!

This week’s spellings will be tested on Friday 08 February 2013.

Lions

This week’s spellings are adding ‘ing’ to verbs. Because there is a short vowel sound, you need to double the consonant after it.

  • running
  • swimming
  • skipping
  • hopping
  • stopping
  • rubbing
  • shopping
  • dropping
  • putting
  • digging

Tigers/Zebras

This week we are learning to spell words with double consonants after the vowel.  The double consonant often mean the sound before is a ‘short’ sound (think of the difference between dinner and diner, supper and super, for example).

  • better
  • daddy
  • dinner
  • happy
  • letter
  • supper
  • lolly
  • button
  • summer
  • rabbit

The homework this week is Talk Time and is due in Wednesday 06 February.

I can talk about when I think time began.

Before we started our new Big Topic (Blast Off!), the children came up with some questions that they wanted to find the answer to by the end of the topic. A large proportion of the class wanted to know the answer to the following question:

“When did time begin?”

I’m sure you’ll all agree this is a fascinating question as well as being one that I would struggle to answer! Therefore, we’ve decided that this is a great opportunity for your child to share their beliefs, ideas and/or theories on when and how time began. Make sure your child has some points ready to bring to our discussion next week.

For example, leaf becomes leaves.
