This week’s spellings are words where you need drop the ‘y’ for an ‘i’.  There are lots of words that could have been chosen for this rule; we’ve chosen words that will help to make our narrative writing more interesting next week. They will be tested on Friday 12 October 2012.

The words in orange are abstract nouns.  Can you think of any other abstract nouns?

Your homework this week is creative and is due in on Wednesday 10 October 2012.

I can produce a piece of work for our Rich and Poor display.

Create a piece of work about the rich or poor in Victorian times or any other aspect of history, art or geography.

Your work could be:

  • art work that is rich in detail
  • collage work
  • poetry
  • recounts of the lives of the rich or poor through time
  • …your own idea!

As an exception, work should not go in your child’s homework book. It should be bright, colourful, attractive and ready to put up on display.

Children were given the opportunity to try a variety of skills from juggling to balancing plates. Here are some pictures:

Thank you…

…for coming to the first class assembly of 2012-13.

Like you, I enjoyed it immensely.  The clear highlight for me was seeing how happy and comfortable the children were, working so well as a team.  Your highlights (as noted on the comments sheet) included the singing, the representation of the water cycle and the sense of fun throughout: “Very good as always” was one comment that summed it up.
