This week’s spellings all end with the suffix fully.

Last week we looked at the suffix ‘ful’. We can make these words into adverbs by adding ly. Notice how there is now a double l on the end, e.g. wonder + ful + ly = wonderfully

LO: Adverbs that end in fully
wonderfully
hopefully
mercifully
helpfully
carefully
hurtfully
thankfully
cheerfully

The homework this week is Talk Time and is due in Wednesday 27 June.

What feelings are involved with change?

Our SEAL theme at the moment is ‘Changes’. With a new year group on the horizon, and a summer away from school, this is the part of the year when children might want to talk about change and how it affects them. Discuss some of the following questions:

  • What big changes have you experienced?
  • What specific feelings did you have?
  • Did they change at any point?

We’ll have a discussion next week where your child will have the chance to listen to the views and experiences of others, as well as reflect on their own.

Testing the Pirate Rafts

Posted on Thursday 21 June 2012 by Mr Wilks

Here is a video of us testing our completed pirate rafts. The winning raft held exactly 390 grams before sinking!

Pirate Raft Building

Posted on Thursday 21 June 2012 by Mr Wilks

In our DT lessons, the children have been working as a group to design, build, test and evaluate a pirate raft.

They had to design a raft to escape on because their pirate ship was sinking. The raft had to be strong enough to carry their treasure and the children could only use materials and tools that would likely be on a pirate ship.
