Leeds Children’s Mayor – well done, Bronwen!

Posted on Thursday 01 December 2011 by Mr Roundtree

As you know, Bronwen was a recent finalist in the Leeds Children’s Mayor election.  Here are some pictures from the reception evening held on Thursday 10 November at the Leeds Civic Hall.  Well done to Joe Smith from Strawberry Fields Primary who was elected, but a big well done to our finalist, too!  Following the reception evening, Bronwen had to rush off to London to meet the Children’s Commissioner for England.  Bronwen’s efforts are a great example of how our children make a positive contribution at local and national level.

This week homework is Practice Makes Perfect.

We’ve been learning how to find graphemes in words. We need a little more practice to make the learning secure.

All information needed to complete the activity is on the sheet that has been given to the children.

Homework is due in on Wednesday 30 November.

A thank you from Mr Redfearn

This is a message to everyone in Year 4 for being so incredible over the past few days when inspectors have been in school. Our SEAL theme this week has been to ‘keep calm or help others to be calm’. The children in Year 4 have definitely helped me to keep calm and should be proud of how mature they have been whilst we have had visitors.

There have also been lots of fun and exciting learning this week with some children even being introduced to lowest common denominators in Maths (an objective for Year 6s!).

The homework this week is talk time and is due in on Wednesday 30 November.

I know how to stay calm.

There are lots of things that we can do to help ourselves to stay calm in different situations. Discuss what strategies you could use to stay calm and when you might need to use these strategies.
