Come dine with Year 4!
In tonight’s episode, Year 4 are guests at Allerton Grange and cook some ‘delectable’ food. They scored top marks from the head chef at Allerton Grange, who stated that the behaviour of the children was ‘awesome’. The food was ok, too.

The new Reception Class have arrived!
We’ve had a fantastic first week in Reception. There were very few tears, even from the parents!
Don’t forget Relax and Read on Thursday. Come and enjoy reading with your child.

Your child will need to bring a packed lunch for the visit.
Visit to Allerton Grange 26 September
As part of our Themed Week, Staying Safe, Year 4 will be visiting Allerton Grange on Monday 26 September between 9.30am and 12.00am.
During their visit, the children will be working in the food technology department, looking at food preparation, hygiene and use of equipment, making soup and bread to eat at the end of the session.
Your child won’t, therefore, need to bring lunch although you may like to send a snack for when they get back to school.
A voluntary donation of £1 would be appreciated to cover the cost of ingredients.
SEAL statement 26 September
This week, it’s Staying Safe week and ‘I can keep myself and others safe’ is our statement for the week.
From staying safe around dogs (Dogs Trust) to drugs safety (d:side for KS2), emergency first aid to a cyber bullying drama workshop, safety while exercising (street dancer) to road safety (police) – we have lots of activities planned for the week!
Some classes will be visiting the local fire station and also Allerton Grange to learn about food safety and take part in an ICT based photography session based on safety.
Our School Council have even set the homework for the end of the week.
Between 3pm – 3.30pm on Thursday 29 September, dside (an interactive drug education provider) will be offering parents and carers the opportunity to meet their representative, in the dining room, to discuss any of the aspects covered during their visit. There will also be information available for you to take away.
Should you have any questions about the week please contact your child’s class teacher or speak with me directly.
We hope your child / children enjoy the week.

The homework this week is creative and is due in on Wednesday 28 September.
I know how to stay safe around electricity.
As we have been learning about electricty for the previous two weeks, I thought it would be a good idea for the children to creatively show what they have learnt about staying safe.
Here are some ideas that we came up with as a class when we talked about the homework:
- A poster highlighting the dangers of electricity.
- A series of pictures or photographs showing potential hazards.
- Instructions about how to use electrical items safely.
- A song or poem about electricity.
- A letter advising someone how to use electricity safely.
I will eagerly look forward to seeing your creations on Wednesday.
