At Moortown Primary, children enjoy learning the ukulele in Year 4. This whole-class learning experience has many benefits: it helps children to develop confidence, concentration and coordination skills, self-discipline, communication and language skills alongside the National Curriculum for music, and not forgetting the sheer enjoyment of being involved in a musical activity.
For those wanting to learn guitar, keyboard or violin, we also offer individual tuition led by an external company specialising in musical tuition – we currently use Roundhay Music. This will involve your child leaving their regular class for a while to take one or two sessions with a separate tutor.
Because instrument tuition is an extra service, there is a charge (unless your child is entitled to free school meals and where school receives pupil premium). Again, contact the office staff for more details on what tuition is currently on offer and the cost of this.
