We had another visitor from Y6 favourite d:side who came to remind us about safe choices to continue making us happy and healthy people.

All the children spotted the strong links with our computing topic. Challenge your child to explain how d:side’s visit linked with:

Living and Learning: Internet Safety

Posted on Tuesday 04 February 2020 by Mr Wain

In today’s Living and Learning lesson, we were learning about internet safety.

This lesson linked to our current statement: I make safe choices, including online.

The children explored a poem called ‘Jessica’s Wish’ – a poem that explains the importance of uniqueness.

Addition

Posted on Sunday 02 February 2020 by Mr Roundtree

We’ve been doing lots of learning in maths about addition. The children have been taught a range of strategies such as counting on number lines, bridging through 10 and using number facts to  help them answer addition calculations.  In our last maths session, the children used these strategies to solve addition problems.

Algorithms

In computing, we’ve continued our learning with the Bee-Bots. In our latest session, the children were given a destination that the Bee-Bot had to reach and they wrote their own algorithms. After this, we inputted them into the Bee-Bot to see if they were correct.

We are loving our computing learning this term!

This half term our topic has been computing.
The children in Year Five, over the last few weeks, have been creating their own computer games on Scratch!

The games they’ve been creating  link to our class novel: Survivors.

Their games have been created using algorithms – these are specific instructions which tell different components of the game what to do!

Here are a few of our games so far…

Posted on Tuesday 28 January 2020 by Mrs Taylor

We couldn’t resist the chance to get out in the brief snow shower this morning. A great opportunity to talk about weather in the different seasons (part of our current science topic).
