All Stars cricket assembly
In our assembly yesterday, Tom, from All Stars cricket, told us all about their cricket programme running at local cricket clubs.
This video gives more information about the programme and how to find your nearest All Stars centre. New Rover, Adel and St Chad’s Broomfield cricket clubs are all running the programme locally.
All Stars cricket
Following our All Stars cricket festival last Tuesday, Tom, from All Stars cricket, came to visit us and we enjoyed a great cricket skills session.
Summer Picnic themed menu
Catering Agency, our school meal provider, will be running a special themed menu on Friday 06 July.
Please contact the office, by Friday 22 June, if your child would like a school dinner on this day.
Out of this world art
This week, as part of our space topic, we made some space art (learning about combining visual and tactile elements) inspired by the work of Peter Thorpe. After studying his style, we practised our own designs in our sketch books. We made some mistakes (which is a good thing!) and adapted our designs to ensure they matched up to our success criteria.
Then, after some excellent modelling under the visualiser by Filip we completed our final designs using chalk, pen and pencil.
Here’s some action shots:
All Stars Cricket
Year One thoroughly enjoyed their cricket taster session from Tom from ‘All Stars Cricket’. The children were taught basic cricket skills in the short session and had great fun in the sunshine.
Mindfulness
This week in Year 5, we’ve been enjoying mindfulness breaks on a morning. This is a great way to relax and look after our mental health. Each of the techniques we’ve used could easily be used at home. Help your child by asking them what the techniques are and encouraging them to use them in their free time or as a way to calm down.

Living and Learning – money and wellbeing
Today, in our living and learning session, we were learning all about borrowing money. We started by discussing all the ways we can pay for things before thinking about when we might need to borrow money. We understood that there were certain circumstances when borrowing money could be a positive thing and then some where borrowing might be unnecessary.
Help at home by seeing if your child can remember their learning.
School savings club
The next School Savings Club paying in date is Thursday 17 May 2018 at 3.15-3.45pm.
If you’re unable to attend in person, please hand in any money to be deposited to the office in a sealed envelope addressed to Mrs Tiffany.
The paying in dates are the penultimate Thursday of each half term and the final date for the summer term is Thursday 12 July at 3.15-3.45pm.
Finally, if your child would like to open account, please ask at the office.
Heroes (and heroines)
In our current topic on heroes, we have been learning about three important people – Malala Yousafzai, Rosa Parkes and Leonora Cohen.
Ask your child what these women have done and why they were heroines.
This week, we’ll compare Malala, Rosa and Leonora to see how they are similar and different.
Thank you to Sasha and Edris who have brought in books from home to support this topic.
