Hello!
We’re looking to you seeing you all soon. We’ve been super busy getting the classroom ready for when you arrive.
Here’s a sneak peak of some of the areas…
Every morning, we’ll encourage your child to be independent when doing their daily jobs. The jobs include: hanging up their coat, finding their name, choosing their lunch, and voting for the end of the day story.
- PE will be every Friday. Your child should come to school in their PE kit. Our first PE session will be on Friday 22 September. Click here if you’re unsure about any items of clothing or footwear.
- Your child will need a labelled water bottle each day. Please ensure the bottle only contains water – no juice, please!
- The school day is 8.45 am – 3.15 pm.
- Please make sure all items of clothing are NAMED.
If you have any questions, please ask at the end of the day.
See you all soon!
Goodbye Reception!
I can’t believe your Reception year has come to an end. We’ve had a magical journey full of joy and laughter.
For my last post, I thought it would be nice to look back on your fantastic year. Click here to reflect and watch some of your amazing highlights.
Parents/carers, you might want to grab a tissue!
Finally, keep reading and have a happy and healthy summer! I look forward to giving you a wave in your new Year 1 classroom.
Sorry this post is delayed!
Thank you to Roundhegians
We had a great sports day last Thursday and thanks go to Roundhegians Rugby Club for once again allowing us to use their great facilities.
Have a look at the options for rugby coaching available at the club.
We know the children appreciated it too.
Being healthy themed week: bike safety
Thank you to Stu and Alex from Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative, based in Chapel Allerton, for visiting this during our Being Healthy week.
They were kept busy by checking lots of bikes to ensure they were safe to use. Thank you to everyone who brought their bike into school.
Then, Year 5 and 6 learnt some different bike maintenance tips to do on their own bikes.
Food tasting
This morning, we were very brave tasting and feeling new food in a bush tucker trial. Even the teachers had a turn!
Help at home: Can your child remember the names of the new food?
Living and Learning
This week, our Living and Learning statement is I make healthy choices. On Monday, we had a visitor from D:side called Dave . He talked staying safe around medicine, healthy foods and brushing teeth. The children listened well and answered lots of questions.
Help at home: What healthy choices do you do at home?
Sports Day
Well done to all the children for showing resilience and determination in their races! We had a wonderful afternoon cheering on our friends. Thank you to everybody who came and supported the children at our Sports Day.
Temple Newsam Farm
We’ve had a wonderful time today on our trip to Temple Newsam Farm! The children’s behaviour was impeccable and they were a credit to our school.

Being Healthy themed week 10 July
Our next whole school themed week, based around Being Healthy, will be taking place from Monday 10th July. This is the second of two themed weeks in the year.
Summer 2: Week 4
Literacy
This week, we’ve been reading Clean Up! by Nathan Bryon.
This book has helped us to think about how to look after our oceans, animals and earth. It has helped us to understand that we are responsible for our own litter. The children have extended their vocabulary through the use of: recycle, sanctuary, island and pollution.
We’ve even given our school playgrounds a Clean Up!
Art
We’ve been busy creating our own mobile sculptures based on Alexander Calder’s famous moving mobiles. We used wire, polystyrene 3d shapes and tissue to create our own representations of his work.
Living and Learning
This week, we’ve been recognising our strengths and saying good things about ourselves. I am good at…
FlM – looking after my baby sister.
HFW – building sand hills.
TH – passing a ball.
DD – Numbots.
SB – tidying up.
FiM – football.
ER – gymnastics.
SS – phonics.
AP – quizzes.
HW – tidying my room.
JZ – playing on the slides.
AS – being a good friend.
RY – sports.
We look forward to welcoming you back into classroom for our final learning journey drop in this year. See you all next week!
