Yet again, Year 4 have shown how creative they can be. We looked carefully at each other’s work and the children enjoyed commenting on work that particularly stood out to them. It was an absolute pleasure to see how much thought and creativity had gone into the homework produced.
We’d like to share some of them with you.
In our class we have several different options of what to do when we are a little stuck with our learning. We call this Brain, Buddy, Boss. Here is a great example of a buddy supporting someone.
This week’s homework is Creative.
I can show what I’ve learnt about our topic.
We are thoroughly enjoying our class topic ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ and it’s time to get creative. We discussed ideas in class related to what we have learnt about this topic so far. Ideas included:
The children had lots of good ideas and I’m really looking forward to seeing their creativity.
double up for a short vowel sound
This week’s spellings are all words where you need to double the last consonant before adding either ing or ed. They make the vowel sound short. If you’re not sure what any of them mean, find out. We may ask children to spell similar words that follow the same pattern.
shopping/ped | hopping/ped | napping/ped | wrapping/ped | thudding/ded |

Whether it’s a novel, comic, newspaper, dictionary, thesaurus or an information book, Year 4 love to read.
Reading for pleasure and enjoyment is so very important and these photos show us doing just that.
Today, the children continued with their gymnastics. We have been learning various types of balances and rolls.
I set them a task today to create a short sequence of movements with a partner. They had to think about previous learning and try to incorporate a hoop into their routines. There were some great ideas, super team work and even some demonstrations.
Thank you to everyone who came to watch the assembly today. The children have worked very hard to learn all their parts and lines. Mr Owen and I were very proud of all the chlidren.
WARNING: DO NOT MAKE GRANDMA’S MEDICINE AT HOME!
Some fabulous homework this week. Take a look.
This half term in PE, we’re focusing on balance and gymnastics. Today, working as part of a team, the children were asked to create a balance using different parts of their bodies and also try to incorporate a piece of equipment into their work. As you can see from the pictures, the children demonstrated some amazing balancing skills, super team work and some very bendy bodies!
