School meal menu

Our Autumn term menu is now available.

Our school meal menu is changing! Catering Leeds, our school meal provider, have produced the new Autumn term menu.  It follows a three week cycle and will be displayed on our dining room window. This is a good way to make your child aware of what the daily meals are.

Following pupil consultation about their favourite vegetables, we have amended the vegetable selection to incorporate these choices.

School meals continue to be free for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.  If your child is in Key Stage 2, please check for eligibility for free school meals.

If your child would like to start having school dinners, please inform the office.  A combination of packed lunches and school dinners is also available.

Many benefits

Physical activity makes your brain work better.

We are aware that physical activity supports health and emotional well-being.  It can also impact on achievement.

Research shows different activities have quite specific mental effects.  Find out how moving your body could sharpen your children’s ideas.

24 June 2016

I can complete a diary about my lifestyle.

The homework this week involves completing a health diary, for the next seven days, to use when completing the online My Health My School survey.  This will take place in school over the next few weeks.

Questions include what snacks they eat, how much exercise they do and how long they spend doing different activities.  The data is used by local government to understand what children’s lives are like and how healthy they are.

The diaries and the survey itself remain confidential and personal information will not be discussed in school if children don’t want to.

Please support your child to complete the diary as accurately as possible and return the completed survey by Monday 04 July.

You’re welcome to accompany your child to pay in their money.  If you can’t come, or maybe your child is at an after-school club, you can bring money to the office in a sealed envelope marked ‘School Saving Account’ with your child’s paying in card and this will be deposited into their account.

Also, it’s not too late to open an account.  Please ask at the office for an application form.

The next paying in session this term is Wednesday 20 July 3.15pm.

Rio Challenge

Complete the Skills drills Rio Challenge against the clock.

This week, we have launched skills drills Rio Challenge.  Linked to the upcoming Rio Olympics, pupils can attempt a series of ten timed sports drills based around core skills from different Olympic events.  These include hockey, gymnastics, rugby and athletics.

Children can be part of this online competition against their peers and other schools and we will be uploading times for the quickest drills.

The drills will be carried out in PE lessons and at lunchtime.  You could even have a go at home.

Rio challenge drills are led by Sports Leaders at lunchtime.

10 June 2016

This week’s whole school homework is creative and is due Wednesday 15 June:

Why does money matter?

Your child is required to show their understanding of money in a creative way. Ideas could include:

  • a game
  • a poem
  • a song
  • a quiz
  • a letter
  • a comic strip
  • a script

Brownlee Foundation triathlon

Our children were in triathlon action ahead of this weekend’s World Triathlon Series in Leeds.

Well done to some of our Year 3 and 4 pupils who were part of 950 children competing in the Brownlee Foundation triathlon at John Smeaton Leisure Centre. This event has been hosted in preparation for the World Triathlon Series held in Leeds this weekend.  These children can be inspired to know that all three of the 2016 Mens Tri Olympic Team not only train in Leeds, but were born here too.

  • ‘I really liked the triathlon because it makes you fit and it was really fun.’
  • ‘I was really nervous at the start but I loved it.  It was challenging.’
  • ‘I really enjoyed it and I would like to do it again.’
  • ‘It was great fun because it gave you chance to practise different sports.’
  • ‘I loved it because of the excitement of it.’
