The journey home
More Seaside Fun
Take a look at our seaside snaps!
Oh I Do Like To Be Beside the Seaside!
Fun was had by all on Wednesday when Years 1 and 2 went to Filey beach. The weather was on our side and the sun came out as we arrived. Lots of excitement was had paddling in the sea and making some fantastic sandcastles. Some children looked like they were leaving home as their bags were so full but they learnt the hard way when they had to carry them all day! There were lots of soggy clothes and tired children (and staff) but an enjoyable day was had by all.
Watch this space… photos to follow!
Starting this Friday (18 May), we will be having weekly times table tests. This will help prepare the children for the weekly times table tests that they will have in Year 3 and beyond. There will be ten questions and it will be a mixture of the 2, 5 and 10 times table. The children that know these well will be extended with the 3 times table too.
SEAL star x 2!
Amazingly (and accidentally), Ravinder received two certificates last week for our SEAL statement ‘I can make way for others’. Both Mr Redfearn and I were impressed at how often he does this. Well done, Ravinder!
Welcome to Alex and Katarina who recently joined Year 2. Both children have made a positive and enthusiastic start at Moortown. Katarina is already impressing us with her excellent range of vocabulary in literacy and Alex is wowing us with his reading skills. Year 2 are very pleased to have two lovely new friends!
Dance class at Allerton Grange
The first ever “Egg Olympics” took place at Moortown Primary School last Friday. The smell of eggs in the KS1 building was worth it just for the excitement of rolling eggs down the back playground. All of the eggs were decorated beautifully by the children and then they were rolled expertly without much breakage at all – one yolk escaped but all in all it worked really well.
There were three heats from each year group and then a year group final. Here are the lucky winners…
Thanks to all parents for supporting our “Egg Olympics” by boiling eggs and thanks to all those who helped at the bun sale along with everyone else for spending lots of money.
Have a great holiday. See you on Monday 16 April.
A quick reminder…
It’s the Year 2 class assembly this Thursday (8 March) at 2.40. We hope to see you there!
