Hello Reception!
The time has nearly arrived for you to start school! We’re really looking forward to welcoming you all into our classroom over the next few days. We’ve been super busy getting the classroom ready for when you arrive.

Welcome to Year 4!
Hello!
Your children have had a fantastic start to Year 4 today and settled in brilliantly. It has been great to see how well they’ve adapted to the new routines and new teachers. We’re really looking forward to an exciting and successful year!
This Friday, your child will come home with a reading book and new Reading Record. Just like in Year 3, they’ll need to bring in their Reading Records every Friday for Book Club sessions, where they’ll be set an activity to complete at home (more information on the activities are inside the Reading Record). It’s really important that your child reads daily. This not only develops their fluency but also their love of reading.
Important dates:
- PE – Wednesday and Friday
- Library – Monday
- Spelling test – Friday
- Times tables test – Friday
- Book club – Friday

Year 3 PE and Library days
Hello!
Year 3 will have their PE days on Tuesdays and Fridays this year. Please can your child come to school wearing their PE kit on this day too! If you’re not sure on the PE kit, please let me know and I can give you the school’s uniform policy.
Our library slot is on a Monday. Your child will need to bring their library book or books in on a Monday if they are ready to swap it or are at the end of their 2 week allowance.

Hello Year 3!
As you know, I’m Miss Birch and I’m going to be your child’s teacher for the next year! I’m really looking forward to working with all of the children and grown-ups. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer holiday and are raring to come back. We’re going to be a fabulous team – bring it on!

What a year!
It’s the final day of the year before the summer holidays begin! We just wanted to write a final message to say a huge well done to all the children for such a fantastic year. It really has flown by and they have progressed and learnt so much along the way.
Also, thank you to all the parents and grown ups who have worked with us to support their children and thank you for any gifts you have given too!

Thank you so much for a fantastic year! It has been a real joy to teach this class and I am so proud of all of them for what they’ve achieved this year. Here are some highlights of our year…

Design & technology: food
This week, Year 2 have been using their design and technology food preparation skills to make our latest recipe, fruit bars.
Some of the skills we used to make our product included:
- snipping
- mixing
- measuring
- mashing
- using the oven and hob safely
After the cooking, we carried out the evaluation of the product and we enjoyed the tasting our product together.
Help at home: Ask your child/children what food preparation skills they have used in this learning and can they demonstrate these using the recipe they have brought home.
Goodbye Reception!
I can’t believe your Reception year has come to an end. Since returning in March, we’ve shared many amazing memories together. You’ve all had a tremendous first year at school and I’m extremely proud of each and every one of you. I love forward to seeing you all in your new Year 1 classroom in September. Have a wonderful summer!

Moortown Oscars 2025
Thank you so much for a fantastic year. We wrapped it up in style with a great party last night. Awards were given, dances were performed and songs were screamed!
We wish every child the very best for their future and we know they’ll go on to do great things.
Moortown will miss them dearly.
