This week’s spellings are a personal one to each child. Your child is required to learn how to spell their full name.
Rarely in life do we ever just write our first name so it’s an important spelling to master early on. Use the look, say, cover, write and check aid in your child’s homework book to structure their practice.
Please ensure that your child understands that their name is made of a first name, perhaps a middle name(s) and a surname.
Though it is great to have an awareness of all their name, for the test on Friday they are required to know how their first and last name is spelled eg Joe Bloggs not Joe Boris Derek Hamish Bloggs…
Their spelling test will be completed in the back of their homework book so make sure you take a peek next week at how they got on.
14 July 2017
This week’s spelling challenge links to the alphabet. Your child is required to order summer holiday related words alphabetically.
Please be aware that your child will not be tested on any of the words next week but will be given a short list of words they’ll need to know how to order alphabetically and independently.
Why not try ordering some of your own words! Does your child know what to do if they have words which begin with the same letter?

Following on from last week’s wordsearch spelling challenge which focussed on tricky words, your child now needs to be ready to spell the words they found in the challenge:

After last week’s spelling challenge, this week your child is required to learn the days of the week.
